A UP professor demanded a 10-page essay about “courage”. The following meeting, everyone submitted their laboriously done essays. Yet, for someone clever enough:
page 1: First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name
page 2: *blank*
page 3: *blank*
page 4: *blank*
page 5: *blank*
page 6: *blank*
page 7: *blank*
page 8: *blank*
page 9: *blank*
page 10: This is courage.

Lea Salonga with Miss Shamcey Supsup - These two are Filipinas who made all the Filipinos around the world proud with their own talents and abilities. Even though Shamcey was not able to take home the crown, she still made us proud by representing our country with utmost grace and intellect - that alone is worth celebrating. She may not be crowned as Miss Universe 2011 but we all know that she truly deserved it and that she’ll always be the winner for us. Congratulations again to Architect Shamcey Supsup! You made all of us proud.
“A real queen isn’t measured by a title, it’s measured by how many lives they’ve touched.” - Margaret Nales Wilson, Miss Philippines-World 2007
“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

During a history/Amaya symposium at UP CMC Auditorium…
(Daez shares that he graduated from Ateneo)
Direk Mac Alejandre (who’s from UP): (interrupts) You know, there are only two universities.
Daez: Oh! And they’re both along Katipunan.
Alejandre: No. UP and others.
Daez: …
Alejandre: (claps)
The joke’s pretty old, but it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone quip that in person, and in front of many students. :))
THIS.
